Falls Creek, nestled high in Victoria’s Alpine National Park, is known for its rugged terrain, crisp air, and sweeping mountain views. At over 1,500m elevation, this setting transforms the typical backyard ultra into a test of both physical endurance and mental resilience.

Expect a mix of singletrack, firetrails, ski runs, and undulating gradients that make each 6.71 km loop uniquely challenging. Every hour on the hour, runners line up again — ready to see how far they can go.

The Backyard Ultra Format

For newcomers to the Backyard Ultra concept, here’s how it works:

* The course is exactly 6.71 km long.

* Runners start every hour on the hour.

* You must complete your loop within that hour to continue.

* The event continues until only one runner remains — the Last One Standing.

It’s not about speed; it’s about consistency, pacing, and endurance. Each runner manages their rest, nutrition, and strategy between loops, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and respect.

The race hub in the Falls Creek Village Bowl has everything you need — an aid station, amenities, and a buzzing event atmosphere. Kids betweeen 6-12 are alo FREE to enter with a registered adult companion, so the whole family can get involved.
